Rooted in Christ, Joyful in Relationship, on the Move in Inner Growth.

A Bit of the Rationale, to my Mind, behind the Field of Christian Apologetics

A lawyer once asked Jesus, “Sir, which is the most important commandment in the Law of Moses?”  Jesus replied, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.” (Matt. 22:37 – 38)

(To me, this indicates that God wants us to use our minds.)

“Sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you.” 1 Peter 3:15

(To me, this is quite a clear rationale for Christian Apologetics, also.  It doesn’t mean, however, that Christians should go around trying to ram their beliefs down the throat of people who don’t share those beliefs.  Obviously.  And also, especially in our postmodern world NOW, and into the future, because of the “cheapening” of the spoken and written word and the proliferation of easy verbal communications technologies, and the honing and prioritization of marketing techniques, ALL of our actions and lifestyles are going to speak MUCH LOUDER THAN ANY OF OUR WORDS.)
